This Sunday, the skies over India were unsettled as 24 flights operated by major airlines received bomb threats. Among the carriers affected were IndiGo, Vistara, Akasa Air, and Air India, covering both domestic and international routes.
While many of these threats, over 90 this week alone, have proven to be hoaxes, the scare has prompted airlines to follow rigorous security protocols. IndiGo and Vistara have publicly confirmed the specific flights that received threats and assured the public of thorough inspections and the involvement of relevant authorities.
In light of these recurrent threats, the Bureau of Civil Aviation Security held discussions with airline representatives to devise stricter norms, including potentially blacklisting those who issue hoax threats, in order to protect passengers and the aviation industry from future disruptions.
