Two people lost their lives and six others suffered injuries following a tragic collision between an auto-rickshaw and a truck in Madhya Pradesh's Damoh district late Wednesday night, according to police sources.

The deadly accident occurred in Chenpura village, within the jurisdiction of Batiyagarh Police Station, confirmed an official.

Batiyagarh Police Station's in-charge, Neha Goswami, reported that the head-on collision resulted in the deaths of Pushpendra Tiwari and Dayaram Kushwaha, who were traveling in the auto-rickshaw.

In addition to the fatalities, six individuals were injured and subsequently admitted to the district hospital for treatment, Goswami added. The truck driver fled the scene immediately after the accident.
