The Maharashtra government has come under legal scrutiny for its failure to settle outstanding dues amounting to Rs 1.58 crore with a hospitality company involved in the World Economic Forum at Davos. The issue was highlighted by Nationalist Congress Party leader Rohit Pawar.
Pawar took to the social media platform X to express concerns that this financial dispute has tarnished the state's reputation on a global stage, potentially deterring investors. The company in question, SKAAH GmbH, was engaged by the Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC) to provide catering and hospitality services during the event.
Industries Minister Uday Samant stated that MIDC, which organized the delegation's visit, believes it did not incur additional unaccounted expenses. The legal notice from SKAAH GmbH claims outstanding payments for services rendered to the delegation, including Chief Minister Eknath Shinde's cohort. MIDC is now being pressured to pay 1,59,511 Swiss Francs, plus an annual interest of 18% on the unpaid amount.
