Western Railway has announced 12 new services on the Mumbai suburban corridor and the conversion of ten existing services to 15-coach from 12-coach. This development, deemed as a 'festival gift to Mumbai,' will come into effect starting October 12 with the introduction of a new suburban train timetable.

According to an official release, the total number of suburban services will increase from 1,394 to 1,406. Specifically, the addition includes four new services between Dahanu Road and Virar, catering to popular commuter demand. With this enhancement, the number of 15-coach services will rise to 209.

The Western Railway suburban network extends from Churchgate in south Mumbai to Dahanu Road in Palghar district, accommodating over 30 lakh commuters daily.
