JSW Cement announced on Tuesday that it has added 2 million tonnes per annum (MTPA) to its current capacity at its Vijayanagar plant in Karnataka. This boosts the plant's total capacity to 6 MTPA.

The Rs 461 crore investment has increased the overall installed grinding capacity of JSW Cement to 20.6 MTPA, according to a company statement.

The addition is part of JSW Cement's larger goal to reach a grinding capacity of 40.85 MTPA in the near future through both greenfield and brownfield expansions across India.

"This new capacity at Vijayanagar is a significant step towards increasing our overall capacity to 40.85 MTPA while maintaining our commitment to sustainability," stated JSW Cement CEO Nilesh Narwekar.

The company will continue to invest in both brownfield and greenfield projects across northern and central India, with proposed units in Rajasthan, Punjab, Madhya Pradesh, and Uttar Pradesh.
