Sundar Pichai Praises PM Modi's AI Vision for Transforming India

Google CEO Sundar Pichai commended Prime Minister Narendra Modi's efforts to digitally transform India and leverage Artificial Intelligence to benefit the nation. Pichai shared these views following a roundtable with PM Modi in New York, where tech applications in various sectors were discussed.

Google CEO Sundar Pichai has lauded Prime Minister Narendra Modi's dedication to transforming India through his digital vision and the application of Artificial Intelligence (AI). Pichai shared his thoughts after a roundtable with PM Modi in New York on Sunday, during PM Modi's three-day visit to the US, where he met with leading tech CEOs.

"The Prime Minister has been focused on transforming India with his Digital India vision. He pushed us to continue making in India, design in India. We are proud to now make our Pixel phones manufactured in India," Pichai stated after the meeting. He emphasized PM Modi's call to explore AI in healthcare, education, and other sectors to ensure India benefits from this emerging technology.

Pichai also stressed that PM Modi is committed to leveraging AI for India's advantage. "He is really thinking about how AI can transform India in a way that benefits the people of India. He challenged us to think about applications in healthcare, education, and agriculture, and he's also thinking about the infrastructure of India, the data centres, power, energy and an investing to make sure India can transition and we are proud to be partnering with India," said Pichai.

Google is making significant investments in AI initiatives in India. "We are robustly investing in AI in India and we look forward to doing more. We have several programs in partnership with MeiTy (Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology), the Agriculture and Health ministries, and the Central and State governments and we look forward to doing more in India," Pichai conveyed.

Sharing PM Modi's vision on AI, Pichai highlighted that the Prime Minister aims to ensure AI serves the Indian population, creating new opportunities while keeping the technology's humanitarian benefit at the forefront. Pichai concluded, "He has a clear vision both in terms of the opportunity that AI will create. But he wants to make sure ultimately AI is there to benefit the people of India and he has a clear vision that it should all be in the service of people of India. He's challenging us to do more."
