In a significant development, oil tankers and trucks have resumed operations on NH-6 and NH-306, reinstating the supply of fuel and other essential commodities to Mizoram. This move follows a brief suspension due to the deplorable conditions of the highways caused by heavy monsoon rains.

State Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Minister B Lalchhanzova confirmed that supply chains are gradually normalizing since operations recommenced on Friday evening. Expressing optimism, he indicated that the situation would soon return to normalcy.

The suspension had led to a shortage of critical supplies in Mizoram. The State Public Works Department (PWD) Minister Vanlalhlana ensured that repair works, especially on the severely affected Khamrang sector, are in progress and will be regularly monitored. With the state government terminating the contract of a private firm responsible for the maintenance, future oversight has been entrusted to the National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (NHIDCL).
