Government Relaxes Import Rules for Yellow Peas

The government has announced that the import of yellow peas will now be allowed without the constraints of the minimum import price (MIP) and port restrictions.
However, all imports must be registered under the online Import Monitoring System with immediate effect. This new rule applies to all consignments where the Bill of Lading has been issued on or before December 31, 2024.
The Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) confirmed the change through a notification, stating that import of yellow peas is 'Free' without the MIP condition and port restrictions, subject to compliance with the registration requirement.
