The Competition Commission of India (CCI) has selected the Management Development Institute Society (MDIS) to spearhead a market study on artificial intelligence (AI) and its competitive landscape. The study, anticipated to address a multitude of issues including potential competition challenges within AI ecosystems, comes after a request for proposal was issued earlier this year.
MDIS, based in Gurugram, will delve into various aspects of AI ecosystems such as stakeholders, resources, value chains, and market structures. The study will also assess emerging and potential competition issues, the scope of AI applications, and its associated risks and opportunities from a competitive perspective.
Additionally, the study will examine existing and evolving regulatory and legal frameworks shaping AI in India and globally. CCI Chairperson Ravneet Kaur has previously highlighted potential concerns about market concentration and anti-competitive behaviors driven by AI and machine learning.
