Embraer, the renowned Brazilian aerospace company, is focusing its efforts on expanding its supply chain within India. Roberto Chaves, Executive Vice-President of Global Procurement and Supply Chain at Embraer, emphasized the robust nature of India's aviation and defense sectors. He noted that the company sees strong viability for Indian manufacturers and systems developers to become key suppliers for its diverse range of businesses.
Chaves said a high-level delegation from Embraer recently visited India to evaluate its supply chain prospects. The company identifies substantial potential for Indian suppliers in areas such as aerostructures, machining, sheet metal, composites, forgings, wire harness, and software development. The visit highlights the burgeoning relationship between Brazil and India, with Embraer recognizing the advanced aerospace engineering capabilities available in the country.
India represents a strategic market for Embraer across all business segments. The company's presence in India includes over 44 aircraft in operation. Notably, both the Indian Government and Indian Air Force make extensive use of Embraer's products. One significant future opportunity is the Medium Transport Aircraft program, in which Embraer, in collaboration with Mahindra, plans to offer the C-390 Millennium aircraft. This collaboration aligns with India's 'Make in India' initiative, aiming to fulfill localized manufacturing and long-term support.
