A team from the Railway Protection Force on Wednesday confiscated 8.88 kg of gold jewellery, valued at Rs 4.50 crore, from four passengers aboard the Amritsar-Howrah Mail Express train, officials reported.

The RPF team discovered the jewellery during a luggage inspection, facing initial resistance from the passengers whose bags were being searched.

Following the discovery, railway police registered a case and promptly notified the Income Tax authorities for further investigation.
