The Federation of Automobile Dealers Associations (FADA) urged for legislative safeguards to protect dealers and employees from the impact of companies abruptly exiting the country. This appeal was made at the 6th Auto Retail Conclave held on Wednesday.

Newly appointed FADA President C S Vigneshwar implored Minister of Heavy Industries HD Kumaraswamy for support in preventing such sudden exits by Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs). He cited past instances where companies like Ford, General Motors, and Harley Davidson ceased operations in India, resulting in widespread layoffs.

Additionally, Vigneshwar requested that the Minister for Road Transport & Highways Nitin Gadkari enforce the implementation of the Central Motor Vehicles Rules (CMVR) by state governments and sought to reclassify auto dealer workshops from the Orange Zone to the Green Zone, emphasizing their environmentally sustainable practices like zero discharge and solar power usage.
