A tragic incident occurred on Wednesday when a motorcycle carrying a couple was struck by a car on the Rishikesh-Badrinath highway near Moolya village in Tehri district.

The victims, identified as Pankaj (35) and Sangeeta (30) from Hapur, Uttar Pradesh, were pronounced dead at the scene. Additional Superintendent of Police J R Joshi confirmed the fatal accident.

The driver of the car involved in the collision fled immediately after the incident. The bodies of the deceased have been transported to Base Hospital Srinagar for postmortem examinations, and their next of kin have been notified. Law enforcement agencies are actively pursuing the absentee driver.
