Meerut Metro Unveiled: A Leap Towards Modern Connectivity

The National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC) on Saturday unveiled the 'Meerut Metro' at RRTS Depot in Duhai, Ghaziabad, officials announced. The trainsets feature ergonomic seating arrangements and can accommodate over 700 passengers, with a seating capacity of 173. Safety is prioritized with platform screen doors installed at all stations, ensuring crowd management and reducing energy consumption.
Shalabh Goel, Managing Director of the NCRTC, emphasized that the Meerut Metro is set to transform the city's transportation landscape by providing a modern, reliable transit system. The metro aims to cut travel time, alleviate traffic congestion, and boost economic growth. The trainsets, manufactured in India under the 'Make in India' guidelines, offer a state-of-the-art design and are equipped with advanced safety measures like passenger emergency communication systems and reserved seating for women and senior citizens.
The project spans 23 km with 13 stations, including elevated and underground sections. The corridor aims to offer seamless connectivity, integrating with Namo Bharat train services at select stations. Construction is advancing swiftly with track laying and station finishing works nearing completion. The NCRTC aims to deliver the project as scheduled, with continuous support from the Indian and Uttar Pradesh governments.
