The DigiYatra Facility, designed to offer contactless and smart passenger processing through Facial Biometric Validation, was officially launched by Union Minister of Civil Aviation K Ram Mohan Naidu. The inauguration event took place at Visakhapatnam Airport, with the minister virtually extending the facility to eight other Airports Authority of India (AAI) airports.

This new system is now operational at Visakhapatnam, Patna, Raipur, Bhubaneswar, Goa (Dabolim), Indore, Ranchi, Coimbatore, and Bagdogra airports. Highlighting the significant benefits of the facility, Naidu emphasized that it will ensure a seamless and contactless experience for passengers.

"I am delighted to announce the inauguration of 9 DigiYatra facilities across 9 airports in India. The key advantage of this facility is the seamless and contactless processing for passengers," Naidu stated. He added that the system stores essential information on passengers' mobile devices, guaranteeing a hassle-free journey through the airport.

DigiYatra is a biometric-based system aimed at making air travel in India more convenient and paperless. Passengers register using their ID and biometric data before entering the terminal and utilize the system at crucial points like airport entry, security check, and boarding gate without carrying travel documents. The system promises faster entry, check-in, and boarding processes, along with enhanced safety and security.

Naidu highlighted DigiYatra as a revolutionary technological advancement in the civil aviation sector, revealing its acceptance by over 30 million users. He announced the ministry's ambitious plan to roll out the DigiYatra facility across all airports in the country and assured passengers of strong data protection measures.

Additionally, the minister discussed the regional connectivity scheme, reaffirming the government's dedication to expanding India's civil aviation infrastructure and flight connectivity. He noted that India currently has 157 airports, with plans to increase this number to 400 in the upcoming years, with active efforts already in progress.

The DigiYatra initiative, a collaboration between AAI and the Ministry of Civil Aviation, has received widespread acclaim from passengers, who appreciate this transformative step. (ANI)
