The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration announced on Tuesday that it had confirmed the 28th death in the United States tied to a defective Takata air bag inflator since 2009.
This defect has triggered the largest automotive recall in U.S. history. Over the past ten years, more than 100 million vehicles globally, including 67 million in the United States, have been recalled due to this issue.
The confirmation of the 28th fatality came after new information was submitted by Honda Motor. The tragic incident involved a Honda vehicle and occurred in 2018 in Alabama, resulting in fatal injuries to the driver.
