Chennai Metro Sees Record Passenger Traffic in August 2024

In a landmark achievement, Chennai Metro Rail reported a record-breaking passenger count of 95.43 lakh in August 2024. This figure is the highest monthly count seen since the inception of metro services in June 2015, said an official release by Chennai Metro Rail on Monday.

The record-breaking numbers show a significant increase in ridership, with 8,606 more passengers traveling in August compared to July 2024. The year has seen consistent growth, with the passenger count increasing from 84.63 lakh in January to 95.35 lakh in July 2024, culminating in August's peak.

CMRL attributed the growth to its commitment to providing safe, efficient, and reliable travel for Chennai's residents. The metro services, which began with Phase-I covering 45.046 km, have continually expanded and improved, contributing to the increasing patronage.
