State-owned NHAI has announced the deployment of a GIS-based software to monitor 100 toll plazas across national highways, an official statement revealed on Monday.

The selected toll plazas were identified based on congestion reports from the national highway helpline. This software will provide real-time congestion alerts and suggest lane distributions when vehicle queues exceed prescribed limits.

The initiative will eventually cover more toll plazas. The software will offer additional features, including live updates on queue lengths, waiting times, vehicle speeds, weather conditions, and information on local festivals, allowing NHAI officials to better manage traffic.
