An IndiGo flight bound for Bengaluru made an emergency landing at the Kolkata airport shortly after takeoff on Friday night due to an engine failure, according to a senior official.

Flight 6E573, which took off at 10:36 PM, returned to land safely at 10:53 PM after a failure in its left engine, reported the Airports Authority of India (AAI) spokesperson on Saturday.

Although the full emergency was declared at 10:39 PM, it was withdrawn by 11:08 PM. Both runways were made available for the plane's safe return. The airline confirmed that passengers received refreshments, and an alternate aircraft was arranged to continue the journey, apologizing for the inconvenience caused.
