Thiruvananthapuram International Airport was placed on high alert Thursday morning following a bomb threat on an Air India flight from Mumbai, prompting a comprehensive security sweep of the aircraft before the emergency status was withdrawn hours later.
The emergency was lifted around 12.10 pm, though airport sources did not confirm if the threat was a hoax. Police officers from the Valiyathura station arrived at the scene to investigate.
Earlier, the pilot reported the threat to ATC after a note reading 'Bomb in flight' was found in the plane's washroom. The aircraft, carrying 135 passengers, landed safely and was moved to an isolation bay where passengers were evacuated, and a bomb squad conducted inspections. Air India emphasized their commitment to passenger safety in an official statement.
