Firefighters in Ukraine's southern region of Odesa have successfully extinguished a sweeping blaze that had threatened a grain warehouse, the state emergency service confirmed on Monday. The massive fire spanned around 2,000 meters in the village of Vizyrka, but no fatalities or injuries were reported.

The emergency service praised the prompt actions of firefighters that prevented the fire from spreading to nearby grain warehouses. The state agency did not specify the cause of the fire nor did it identify the damaged facility located near the Black Sea port of Pivdennyi.

Pivdennyi is renowned as one of Ukraine's largest ports and plays a crucial role in a transport corridor facilitating the shipment of approximately 60 million tonnes of agricultural cargo annually.
