This directive follows the recent assassination of senior figures from Hamas and Hezbollah, escalating fears of conflict involving Iran and Israel.

The advisory, issued Sunday by Jordanian authorities, is effective until 2200 GMT on Tuesday, citing operational reasons. The NOTAM, a safety notice to pilots, anticipates the potential closure of Jordanian airspace. OPSGROUP, an aviation risk information organization, highlighted this move as a cautionary step ahead of any possible Iranian attack on Israel.

According to Mark Zee, Chief Executive of OPSGROUP, the mandate for 45 minutes of additional fuel allows aircraft sufficient time to exit Jordanian airspace and find an alternative landing zone. Airspace shutdowns related to conflicts can significantly disrupt global air traffic, a situation comparable to the ongoing restrictions caused by the war in Ukraine. Experts predict that an Iranian attack on Israel could lead to widespread closures of crucial air routes, dramatically reshaping international aviation corridors.
