The Uttarakhand government has mandated the installation of dustbins or garbage bags in vehicles entering the state, aiming to preserve its natural cleanliness. Chief Secretary Radha Raturi emphasized that vehicles will be checked for compliance before trip cards are issued.
The State Transport Department has informed transport commissioners of neighboring regions, including Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, and Haryana, about the new rule. This mandate is particularly crucial during the Chardham Yatra, a peak tourist season.
Tour operators, travel agencies, and the general public are urged to adhere to this rule to maintain the state's environment. Non-compliant vehicles will face fines, reinforcing the collective responsibility of residents and tourists in keeping Uttarakhand clean.
