Vice President Jagdeep Dhankar underscored the crucial role of forensic science in the justice system during his address at the National Forensic Science University in Gujarat. Dhankar emphasized that forensic science is not just about bringing perpetrators to justice but is also vital in establishing innocence. He highlighted the societal decline that could result from failing to consider the pleas of the innocent.

Referring to forensic sciences as the cornerstone of justice, Dhankhar stated, "Forensic science is not merely a technical field; it is the cornerstone of justice. It ensures that evidence speaks louder than opinions and facts triumph over speculation." He noted its indispensable role in preventing miscarriages of justice, ensuring that the guilty are punished while the innocent are protected.

Dhankar stressed that forensic science strengthens citizens' faith in the rule of law, asserting that miscarriages of justice are demoralizing for society and can be avoided through its application. Recognizing the multifaceted nature of forensic science, he stated it holds the key to unlocking mysteries, safeguarding communities, and shaping national development.

Expanding on the global importance, Dhankhar highlighted the role of forensic science in addressing challenges like climate change and ecological degradation. He mentioned how it can identify pollution sources, track wildlife poaching, and enforce environmental regulations. Dhankar warned against reckless exploitation of natural resources, calling for collective efforts to preserve and improve the planet for future generations.

Encouraging young professionals to explore varied opportunities, Dhankar advised against limiting ambitions to government roles. Quoting, "Opportunities in other areas are enormous and more productive. They will test your skill, knowledge, and spur innovation and research." He questioned why experts would confine themselves to governmental roles and urged a broader career perspective.

Dhankar appealed to students and professionals to maintain high ethical standards, stressing that any integrity lapse might have grave consequences like allowing a terrorist to escape or wrongfully jailing an innocent person. He urged, "Always let truth guide your work and ensure justice is served without bias and compromise." The event was also attended by Gujarat Governor Acharya Devvrat, Minister of State Jagdish Vishwakarma, the Vice Chancellor, faculty, students, and other dignitaries. (ANI)
