Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Sunday inspected rescue operations on National Highway 66 near Shirur, where a massive landslide occurred last week, urging officials to expedite the work amid ongoing heavy rains.
Siddaramaiah emphasized that there was no delay or negligence from his government's side, highlighting military involvement in the rescue efforts. He announced Rs 5 lakh compensation for the families of the deceased.
The CM reported that seven bodies have been recovered out of the ten missing individuals, with operations continuing to find the remaining three. Significant personnel from SDRF, NDRF, and the military are part of the rescue team.
