Tezpur Airport to Suspend Flight Operations for 18 Months

Flight services will be suspended at Tezpur Airport in Assam for maintenance work starting October 1, 2024, and will continue until March 31, 2026, a senior official confirmed on Wednesday.
Tezpur Airport Director G Shiva Kumar announced that passenger flights would be halted to facilitate the resurfacing of the runway and other terminal improvements. The airport, located near the Tezpur Base of the Indian Air Force, supports both commercial and military aircraft operations.
Plans are underway to offer helicopter services between Tezpur and Guwahati, though these have yet to be finalized. Present daily services include a direct flight to Kolkata and additional flights via Guwahati, Pasighat, and Tezpur. The airport, established in 1942, can accommodate 400 passengers and is situated 12 km from Tezpur town on the north bank of the Brahmaputra river.
