Nigeria and UAE Resume Travel with New Visa Agreement
Nigeria and the UAE have agreed on resuming travel between their countries after a visa ban in 2022. The agreement follows Nigeria's central bank clearing a $137 million debt to international airlines. Emirates Airline will also restart flights to Nigeria in October.
Nigeria and the United Arab Emirates have reached an agreement to resume travel between the two countries, according to Nigeria's Information Minister. The UAE had stopped issuing visas to Nigerians in 2022 following a suspension of Emirates Airline flights due to financial constraints.
Recently, Nigeria's central bank settled a $137 million backlog of foreign exchange owed to international airlines. Information Minister Mohammed Idris announced that the agreement will see the resumption of visa issuance to Nigerian passport holders starting Monday.
The agreement includes updated regulations and conditions for obtaining UAE visas. Emirates Airline is set to resume its flights to Nigeria in October, ending a nearly two-year hiatus.
