Union Minister Ajay Tamta has announced that work on the 88.4 km six-lane greenfield highway connecting Gwalior and Agra is set to commence this financial year. The ambitious project, which is estimated to cost Rs 4,216 crore, promises to cut travel time between the two cities from three hours to one hour.

Speaking to reporters, Tamta highlighted that Madhya Pradesh's development is setting new milestones. He confirmed that the detailed project report for the highway has been completed and tenders have been floated, signaling the start of the project. Additionally, the construction of a 28.8 km western bypass for Gwalior's ring road has also received approval, with an allocated budget of Rs 1,004 crore.

In another significant feat for the ministry, Tamta noted that the completion of the Gwalior-Jhansi highway has similarly reduced travel time between the two cities from three hours to one hour, underscoring the ongoing efforts to enhance infrastructure in the region.
