Helicopter Tragedy off Hawaiian Coast: One Dead, Two Missing

A tragic helicopter crash occurred off the coast of Kauai, Hawaii, on Thursday, claiming one life and leaving two others missing, according to the Kauai Police Department.

Hikers who witnessed the crash reported seeing the helicopter plunge into the ocean approximately a quarter of a mile (0.4 kilometers) from the Na Pali Coast and subsequently contacted the police around 1:20 pm.

The downed Robinson R44 helicopter was operated by Alii Kauai Air Tours and Charters. Rescue crews recovered one body at around 2:30 pm, while the search for the remaining two individuals continues. Authorities have not yet released their identities.

The National Transportation Safety Board will be conducting a thorough investigation into the incident.
