West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee met the parents of a murdered and raped girl in Kultuli, assuring them of a swift investigation and strict punishment for the perpetrator. Accompanied by TMC MLA Saokat Mollah, the meeting at Nabanna followed protests and the arrest of a suspect.
West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee met with grieving parents on Monday at the state secretariat, Nabanna, following the tragic rape and murder of their daughter in Kultuli, South 24 Parganas. Banerjee vowed that the perpetrator would face severe consequences.
Accompanied by TMC MLA Saokat Mollah from Canning, the parents of the victim were given assurances of assistance and a thorough investigation, promised to conclude within three months, according to a source.
Police have arrested one individual connected to the case, which ignited intense protests from locals. The unrest included vehicles being torched, a police outpost being ransacked, and road blockades being set up after the young student's body was discovered in a pond on October 5.
