Andhra Pradesh Sets Sights on Becoming Global Drone Hub

At a national drone summit, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu unveiled an ambitious vision to position the state as a global hub for drone technology. Speaking in Mangalagiri, Guntur district, Naidu emphasized the state's commitment to integrating drone technology across various sectors and promoting a conducive environment for innovation.
Citing the versatile applications of drones, the CM spotlighted their use in agriculture, law enforcement, and disaster management, particularly noting their role in recent flood relief operations. He shared plans for the state to test over 150 drone applications and train 35,000 drone pilots to meet industry demands.
Naidu's announcement included a strategic push for indigenisation with a goal of 80% local manufacturing, alongside a promise of a friendly business atmosphere for drone innovators. The summit also saw agreements with the Quality Council of India and IIT-Tirupati to bolster certification and development initiatives.
