Calls for Revisiting Satcom Spectrum Rules Intensify
The PHD Chamber of Commerce and Reliance Jio have urged Trai to revise the consultation paper on satellite spectrum allocation. They argue it overlooks the need for equitable rules between satellite and terrestrial networks, potentially violating constitutional rights. Meanwhile, Broadband India Forum opposes this demand.

The PHD Chamber of Commerce, along with Reliance Jio, is urging the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (Trai) to reassess its consultation paper on satellite spectrum allocation.
Their argument posits that the paper does not adequately address the necessity for a level playing field between satellite-based and terrestrial networks, a breach which they say infringes on Article 14 of the Indian Constitution.
Conversely, Broadband India Forum counters this stance, arguing that the concept of a 'level playing field' misunderstands both the technology and legal principles involved.
