The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has issued an urgent advisory for owners of 154,000 Jeep plug-in hybrid electric SUVs. They are asked to park these vehicles outside and away from buildings until recall repairs are completed.

Jeep-parent Stellantis announced on Monday a global recall of 194,000 Jeep Wrangler and Grand Cherokee plug-in hybrids, with 154,000 of those vehicles in the United States, following reports of 13 fires.

NHTSA reported two injuries potentially linked to the recall. The affected vehicles contain high voltage batteries produced by Samsung SDI that may fail internally, posing fire risks.
