The Defence Research & Development Organisation (DRDO) and the Indian Navy have achieved a significant milestone by successfully conducting a flight test of the vertical launch short range surface-to-air missile (VL-SRSAM) off the coast of Odisha on Thursday.

Defence officials reported that the test, conducted around 3 pm from the Integrated Test Range in Chandipur, targeted a high-speed aerial object at low altitude, which the missile system successfully tracked and destroyed.

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh lauded the efforts of the DRDO and Indian Navy teams, asserting that the test reinforces the VL-SRSAM system's reliability. DRDO Chairman Dr. Samir V Kamat echoed the praise, noting that the system would significantly boost the Indian Navy's operational capabilities.
