Two ships, a Panama-flagged oil tanker and a merchant vessel, came under attack in the Red Sea off Yemen on Monday, according to British maritime agencies.

Military authorities confirmed that the tanker, named Blue Lagoon I, was attacked with missiles, Reuters reported citing security firm Ambrey. No casualties were reported in either incident.

The tanker attack occurred approximately 70 nautical miles northwest of Yemen's port of Saleef, as reported by Ambrey and the United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO). Sea Trade Marine SA, the Greek manager of the Blue Lagoon I, was not immediately available for comment.

Ambrey suggested the vessel was targeted due to its affiliation with a company that docks at Israeli ports. Iran-aligned Houthi militants have been attacking international shipping near Yemen since last November in solidarity with Palestinians amid the Israel-Hamas conflict.

In another incident, a drone hit a merchant vessel about 50 nautical miles from Yemen's Hodeidah port, south of Saleef. The vessel is en route to its next destination, according to UKMTO.
