India's second nuclear-powered submarine, INS Arighaat, was commissioned into the Navy, marking a significant advancement in the country's nuclear triad. India's second nuclear-powered ballistic missile submarine, INS Arighaat, was officially commissioned into the Navy on Thursday. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh attended the commissioning ceremony in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh, and emphasized that this addition will significantly bolster the country's nuclear capabilities and enhance its deterrence.
The Defence Ministry noted that INS Arighaat is considerably more advanced than its predecessor, INS Arihant, thanks to indigenous technological advancements. The submarine boasts advanced design, manufacturing technology, and equipment conceptualized and developed by Indian scientists and engineers.
Singh praised the efforts of the Indian Navy, DRDO, and the industry for achieving this milestone and highlighted the role of self-reliance in strengthening national security. He remarked that the project has bolstered the industrial sector and created more employment opportunities, reflecting the government's commitment to making India a developed nation.
