Amara Raja Launches Phase 1 of High-Capacity Battery Pack Plant in Telangana
Amara Raja Group inaugurated the first phase of their battery pack plant, with a capacity of 1.5 GWh, in Telangana. The company also initiated the foundation for a Customer Qualification Plant and signed MoUs with Piaggio and others for future collaborations and technology localization.
In a significant stride toward advancing India's battery manufacturing capabilities, the Amara Raja Group on Saturday inaugurated the first phase of their battery pack plant in Telangana's Mahabubnagar district. This phase has an initial capacity of 1.5 GWh.
The ceremony, overseen by Amara Raja Advanced Cell Technologies (ARACT), a subsidiary of Amara Raja Energy & Mobility Limited, also marked the foundation stone laying of a Customer Qualification Plant. This plant is expected to be operational by the next financial year's first quarter.
Alongside the inaugurations, Amara Raja signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Piaggio for the development of lithium-ion cells and chargers for EVs. This come shortly after agreements with Ather Energy and international players like Gotion-InoBat-Batteries and Jiangsu Highstar Battery Manufacturing Co., indicating a robust roadmap for technology localization and scalable production.
