Italian luxury automaker Automobili Lamborghini plans to leverage India's new hybrid vehicle policy for growth, as shared by a senior company official on Friday.

On Friday, the company launched the plug-in hybrid version of its flagship SUV, Urus, with prices starting at Rs 4.57 crore (ex-showroom). Future hybrid models will be introduced in India as they are launched globally.

Francesco Scardaoni, Director of Lamborghini's Asia Pacific Region, highlighted the strong growth potential in India, attributing it to both the introduction of the Urus and the country's robust economy. The company sold a record 103 units in 2023, up from 92 units in 2022, marking a 33% growth.

Scardaoni also confirmed that Lamborghini is set to unveil the fully hybridised successor of Huracan globally within a week, anticipating its success among Indian customers. He noted that India's policy on hybrids could further benefit the brand, aligning with the country's status as the fastest-growing economy.

The Urus SE features a twin-turbo 4.0 V8 engine paired with an electric powertrain, enabling over 60 km of travel in full-electric mode. Deliveries in India are expected to start next year.
