IIT Guwahati researchers have developed an innovative machine learning framework named 'LEAP', marking a landmark achievement in Electronic Design Automation (EDA) for the semiconductor industry.

LEAP enhances the design process of Integrated Circuits (ICs), crucial components in the $600 billion semiconductor industry powering modern electronic devices. It streamlines the technology mapping process by intelligently picking the most promising configurations, reducing over 50% of the configurations considered traditionally.

The framework offers significant performance improvements, leading to quicker, more efficient electronic devices with lower energy consumption. This breakthrough, the result of efforts from Professors Karfa, Bhattacharjee, and collaborators, has been recognized at ICCAD 2024.
