AT&T reported on Friday that approximately 109 million customer accounts had data, including call and text records, illegally downloaded in April. This revelation prompted the involvement of the FBI, which is currently investigating the breach. At least one person has been arrested so far following the incident, where AT&T call logs were accessed from a third-party cloud platform.

Although the compromised data spans interactions from May 2022 to October 2022 and for some from January 2, 2023, it doesn't include content of the calls or texts, nor personal information like social security numbers. The FBI has yet to issue a public statement.

After learning of the breach on April 19, AT&T confirmed that unauthorized access occurred between April 14 and 25. The affected records also cover mobile virtual network operator customers. AT&T has since implemented additional cybersecurity measures to prevent future breaches and is cooperating with law enforcement. The telecom giant assured that the data is not publicly accessible and the incident hasn't significantly impacted its operations.
