Russian wrestler Dmitry Baboryko has been banned for two years after testing positive for tamoxifen, a drug used to counter steroid effects, announced the International Testing Agency. The test was conducted during the under-23 world championships last October in Albania.
Baboryko, who competed in the heavyweight 130-kilogram Greco-Roman wrestling class, accepted the sanction and will be stripped of his silver medal. This decision was communicated on behalf of the United World Wrestling governing body.
Despite his ban, the Russian wrestlers, competing as 'Authorized Neutral Athletes,' led the medal tally at the under-23 worlds, albeit officially excluded. Baboryko's ban will last until December 2026.
