A cricket enthusiast, arrested for encroaching the field during the IPL 2025's inaugural game at Eden Gardens, was given conditional bail on Monday by the Bankshall Court.
The Chief Judicial Magistrate directed the young man to post a bail bond of Rs 1,000, with strict instructions to stay away from the stadium and surrounding areas during IPL matches in Kolkata this season. The police are tasked with ensuring he does not acquire match tickets.
Arrested last Saturday for interrupting the match by approaching cricketer Virat Kohli during play, the fan was removed by security. After a day in custody, the court refused further detention as no malicious intent was proven. Judge Mukhopadhyay emphasized the need for improved security to prevent future breaches.
