Babar Azam, Pakistan's premier batter, will face scrutiny as he contends with India's top spinners in the upcoming Champions Trophy clash in Dubai. Babar's ability to handle spin has faltered over recent years, a stark change from his prior dominance.

Once known for his prowess against spin, particularly in ODIs where he averaged an impressive 89.94 with a strike rate of 89, Babar's stats have taken a downturn. Since 2022, his average against spin plummeted to 31.80, alongside a decrease in his strike rate to 67.65.

This decline became evident during the Champions Trophy's opening match against New Zealand, where part-time off-spinners Michael Bracewell and Glenn Phillips successfully stifled him. As Babar's struggle with spin deepens, his improved performance against pace, averaging 57.52 since 2022, provides a glimmer of hope for Pakistan.
