The Jammu and Kashmir government is intensifying its efforts to foster genuine sports talent throughout the region, Minister for Youth Services and Sports Satish Sharma announced on Tuesday. He emphasized that individuals exploiting sports bodies for personal benefits will be removed.

With backing from Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Lt Governor Manoj Sinha, and in coordination with the Union sports ministry, Sharma envisions a new era of advanced sports culture in the Union Territory, equipped with state-of-the-art facilities. The declaration coincides with the opening of the fencing championship for under-14 categories, part of the 68th National School Games held nationwide.

Participants from across the country are engaging in this event, organized by the Department of Youth Services and Sports, Jammu and Kashmir, under the School Games Federation of India's watchful eye. Sharma reiterated the government's commitment to promoting authentic sportsmanship, ensuring no political interference while enhancing the local sports ecosystem.
