Sri Lankan cricketer Wanindu Hasaranga will miss the anticipated three-match ODI series against New Zealand after being sidelined by a recurrent hamstring injury. The leg-spinner sustained the injury during the second T20I against New Zealand, having previously experienced similar setbacks during a series against India.
Hasaranga, noted for being Sri Lanka's top wicket-taker in T20I matches, achieved six wickets in the recent series, earning him the Player of the Series accolade. In the second T20I, he displayed his prowess by capturing four New Zealand wickets, leading to the visitors being dismissed for 108 despite eventually turning the tables to secure a series draw.
In his absence, Sri Lanka Cricket has drafted Dushan Hemantha as a replacement for the upcoming series, which kicks off on November 13. Meanwhile, New Zealand faces its own setbacks, as key player Lockie Ferguson will also miss the series due to a calf injury, with Adam Milne stepping in as his substitute.
