In a controversial move, Argentine club Deportivo Riestra included YouTube influencer Ivan Buhajeruk, known as Spreen, in their starting lineup against Velez Sarsfield. Without professional football experience, Buhajeruk was substituted within the first minute, attracting widespread criticism.
Commentators on Tyc Sports decried the decision, calling Buhajeruk's brief appearance 'shameful' and a 'disgrace.' Despite the uproar, coach Cristian Fabbiani revealed the substitution was pre-planned for marketing purposes, suggesting it was a one-off event.
Criticism extended beyond the media, with former Argentina international Juan Sebastian Veron condemning the act as disrespectful to the sport. Despite the backlash, Riestra's overall performance this season remains strong, equaling points with Boca Juniors.
