Europa League Clash Moved to Neutral Hungary
The Europa League match between Besiktas and Maccabi Tel-Aviv, initially scheduled for Turkey, will be played in Hungary. This decision follows the Turkish government's refusal to host it. The Hungarian authorities will hold the game behind closed doors due to previous unrest with Maccabi fans.
The Europa League face-off between Besiktas and Maccabi Tel-Aviv, originally set for Istanbul on November 28, will take place in Debrecen, Hungary, UEFA announced Monday. The match was relocated following the Turkish government's decision against hosting the game within its borders.
The contest, set for Nagyerdei Stadium, will occur without spectators due to a ruling by Hungarian authorities. This measure comes after recent incidents involving Maccabi fans, where at least five individuals were injured following a Europa League match against Ajax.
Besiktas revealed that Hungary was the only nation willing to host the fixture, ensuring the game proceeds as planned despite logistical challenges.
