Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar inaugurated the Women's Asian Champions Trophy-2024 at the new Hockey Stadium in Rajgir, Nalanda district. The event, running until November 20, is a collaborative effort between Hockey India and the Bihar government, featuring teams from six Asian nations, including India, China, and Japan.
The tournament kicked off with the matches Japan vs. Korea and China vs. Thailand. Post-ceremony, India played its first match against Malaysia. India will continue its pool matches against Korea, Thailand, China, and Japan throughout the tournament.
Security has been reinforced with additional forces and CCTV to ensure the safety of players and visitors. Athletes will also have the opportunity to explore cultural sites around Bodhgaya and Rajgir, while being served by specially hired chefs to provide tailored cuisines.
