Former England cricketer and pace legend James Anderson might be seen in Chennai Super Kings' colors in the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) season, according to ex-teammate Michael Vaughan. Anderson, a remarkable figure in England cricket who retired this summer, has enlisted for the IPL auction scheduled in Jeddah on November 24-25, with a base price of Rs 1.25 crores.
Speaking on the Club Prairie Fire Podcast, co-hosted with Adam Gilchrist, Vaughan speculated Anderson's IPL prospects, saying, "You mention James Anderson, I would not be surprised if Jimmy Anderson ends up at Chennai Super Kings." Known for their preference for swing bowlers in early overs, Chennai could be an apt destination for Anderson. Anderson himself, in a Sky Sports interview, expressed his desire to return to the field, asserting, "I want to play cricket again," as he continues to keep himself fit by bowling post-retirement.
Anderson, who finished his illustrious Test career as the third-highest wicket-taker after Muralitharan and Warne, remains determined to contribute to the sport, registering for the IPL alongside 1,573 other players, including prominent figures from countries like South Africa and Australia. With IPL 2025's auction promising fierce competition for 204 available slots, Anderson aims for a chance to make his IPL debut after a formidable international career.
