In a significant reshuffle, the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has removed 11 directors, including former president Nazmul Hassan, as announced by ESPNcricinfo on Thursday. The decision came after these individuals missed three or more consecutive meetings. Among those removed is Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) chairman Sheikh Sohel.
This move comes alongside the acceptance of resignations from three other directors, including Naimur Rahman, Khaled Mahmud, and Enayet Hossain Siraj. The absences began following the ousting of the Sheikh Hasina-led Awami League government. Prior to this, BCB had 25 directors.
Meanwhile, on the pitch, Bangladesh trails South Africa 1-0 in their two-match Test series. South Africa claimed a seven-wicket victory in the first Test, highlighted by Kagiso Rabada's entry into the top five all-time leading wicket-takers for South Africa, and Kyle Verreynne's remarkable century in Asia.
Bangladesh won the toss but struggled, bowled out for 106 due to South Africa's potent attack. Despite a fightback led by Taijul Islam, Verreynne's century secured a 202-run lead for South Africa. Bangladesh's counter was thwarted by Rabada's six-wicket haul, securing a comfortable win for the visitors.
